How to Choose the Right Fun Casino Hire Company (Without Gambling on the Wrong One!)

When you're organising a corporate event, wedding, charity fundraiser or Christmas party, choosing the right fun casino hire company can make the difference between a memorable evening or an expensive disappointment. At first glance, every company seems to offer the same thing – roulette tables, blackjack tables, poker tables and professional croupiers, but after working in the casino industry for decades and providing fun casino hire across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, Sussex and surrounding counties, but I’m afraid it’s not quite as simple as that.

Here are the things I would look for if I were hiring a casino entertainment business myself.

Don't Choose on Price Alone

I know it's tempting and you’re quite right to shop around and naturally your eyes go straight to the cheapest one, but why is it cheaper? Do they use high-quality casino equipment and run efficiently or are they cutting corners? Professional casino entertainment isn't just about putting a roulette table in the corner of a room. You're paying for experienced professional croupiers, authentic casino tables, reliability, public liability insurance, years of experience running successful events, someone who knows how to create an atmosphere. Saving a few pounds can sometimes cost you the success of the evening.

Ask Questions... lots of questions

A reputable company won't mind being asked questions, in fact, they'll be happy to answer them.

Try these;

Do your croupiers have experience working in real casinos?

Can I see your Public Liability Insurance certificate?

How long have you been operating?

Do you provide table lighting and is it PAT tested?

What happens if there's a problem on the night?

If somebody struggles to answer simple questions confidently, that's worth noting because experience shows.

Experience Isn't Just About Years - It's About Knowing What Works

Here’s an example where Mock Vegas experience helped. The organisers of a social club in Kent had expected a good turnout of members from conversations and interest from members. Unfortunately, between World Cup football, glorious weather and the whole area's water supply being cut off earlier that day, attendance was much lower than expected. The original plan was to spread three casino tables across three different rooms, but with reduced numbers, that would have left every room feeling half empty. That would make things difficult if you want to have an exciting atmosphere.

So instead I suggested creating a casino ‘pit’ in the bar area, arranging the three tables in a circle just as you'd find in a real casino. We also gave those who did attend more fun money to use on the tables. This worked out really well, when the blackjack table erupted with cheers, the excitement spread across the whole casino. Guests stayed together and the room felt alive. Nobody remembers how many people were missing. Disappointing numbers, which wasn’t anybody’s fault, but those there talked about having a fantastic evening. Experience helps - suggesting options when things haven’t gone to plan.

The Little Details Make a Huge Difference

One thing I've always believed is that if you look after your croupiers, they'll look after your guests. That means making sure every table has lighting, space for them to work so guests aren't leaning over the dealer, matching casino chips on every table, even having a bottle of water available. It sounds obvious, but imagine trying to deal blackjack in poor lighting while guessing whether a chip that a value of ‘5’ is green or red because every table uses different colours. If the dealer is struggling the players will notice, it will slow them down, but when dealers are comfortable, games run smoothly, guests get served quicker and everyone enjoys themselves more.

Real Casino Experience Matters

This is one of the biggest differences between companies. Some businesses use dealers who have spent years working in real casinos, while others have enthusiastic and affable people who've been shown the basics by a friend or relative. Only one is likely to keep a busy table moving efficiently because an experienced croupier doesn't need to concentrate on the mechanics of the game. They've done it countless times and that leaves their attention free to chat, joke with guests and keep the evening flowing. That is what we are there for – entertainment, and the faster the games move, the more guests get a chance to play.

Quality Equipment Says a Lot About a Company

Good casino tables shouldn't wobble every time someone leans on them. Mock Vegas tables are purpose built to get in and out of homes and venues, yet feel solid when assembled on site. They look authentic and they create the impression of walking into a real casino rather than someone's front room.

It's also worth asking whether the company provides consistent casino chips across every game. Having red chips with a value of 5 on blackjack but green chips with a 5 value on roulette creates unnecessary confusion for guests and dealers alike. Again, it's one of those small details that experienced operators think about.

Warning Signs to Watch For

Not every fun casino business takes its bookings as seriously as they should. Occasionally I receive enquiries from people who've been let down by another supplier just days before their event. Thankfully that's rare but unfortunately it does happen.

To help avoid a situation like that, warning signs include:

they can't answer questions immediately and confidently

no Public Liability Insurance

no lighting for the tables

if they do have lighting, it’s not PAT tested

vague answers about their experience

generic email addresses rather than a proper business domain (eg. funcasinobusiness@gmail.com)

very little useful information on their website

At Mock Vegas, once you've paid your deposit, your booking is confirmed. We will be there.

Every Event Is Different

Different events can have different needs. A corporate party will different from a wedding, or a charity fundraiser or a Christmas party, but experience helps you adapt. Weddings can be tight with timings with a room turnaround before the evening reception. The casino might need to pause while the cake is cut or the first dance takes place. Charity events often involve exchanging donations for fun money before guests head to the tables. Understanding those differences means the casino becomes part of the event rather than getting in its way.

Pick Up the Phone

I can not stress this enough - talk to the company.

Do not leave it just to email and messages, speak to them. In five minutes you'll know whether you're talking to someone who's organised hundreds of casino nights or someone who's learning as they go. Use your intuition. Ask questions and listen to how quickly they answer. Confidence comes from experience.

A Simple Checklist Before You Book

Before choosing any roulette hire, blackjack hire or fun casino hire company, ask yourself:

Did they answer my questions confidently?

Have their croupiers worked in real casinos?

Do they have Public Liability Insurance?

Will there be lighting on the tables?

Is their electrical equipment PAT tested?

Do they provide authentic tables and professional equipment?

Do they pay attention to the small details that make the evening run smoothly?

If the answer is yes, you're probably in safe hands.

After decades working in the casino industry and entertaining guests across Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex, Dorset and Wiltshire, I've learned that successful casino nights aren't built on luck, they're built on experience, preparation and attention to detail.
